Getting to King Leweys Island
Your island escape begins in Placencia, Belize. A scenic 40-minute boat ride takes you 12 miles offshore to King Lewey’s Island Resort. Round-trip boat transfers are FREE for overnight guests.
Most guests fly into the Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport BZE airport in Belize City, then from the same airport take a short and scenic 30 minute Maya Air or Tropic Air flight to Placencia.
You can also take a ground transfer from BZE to Placencia (2.5 hour drive). Contact our reservations team for questions or help arranging transport from BZE to Placencia.
From Placencia our boat and captain will transport you to King Leweys Island Resort (40 minute boatride). If you're already in Placencia we'll pick you up directly at the MnM Gas Dock.
MnM Gas Dock – Placencia (Boat Departure Point)
Step 1: Arrive in Belize, most guests arrive through Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. From there, you have two convenient options to reach Placencia, the departure point for King Lewey's Island Resort.
Option 1: Fly to Placencia (Fastest & Most Popular "the puddle jumper") The quickest way to reach the island is by a scenic 30-minute domestic flight from Belize City to Placencia. Once you arrive in Placencia, a 5 minute cab ride can take you to the dock for your boat transfer to the island.
Option 2: Private Ground Transfer. Prefer to travel by road? We can help arrange a private air-conditioned transfer from Belize International Airport directly to Placencia.
Step 2: Boat Transfer to King Lewey's Island ResortAll guests arrive at the MnM Dock in Placencia where our captain will welcome you aboard. Boat Transfer Details: Approximately 40 minutes to KLIR, Crystal-clear Caribbean waters. Incredible views on the ride to the island.
Travel Tips: We recommend booking international departure flights later in the day whenever possible. Many guests choose to spend an extra night in Placencia before returning home. Weather conditions and water conditions may occasionally affect boat schedules.
