King Lewey’s Island Resort is approximately 12 miles offshore from Placencia in southern Belize. The approximately half-acre island has four overwater cabanas and the three-bedroom Purple Octopus Suite.
The overwater cabanas can be reserved individually, subject to availability. You do not need to fill the island, invite a group or pay for every bedroom to stay here.
For a couple, that means an island vacation can start with a straightforward accommodation booking. For a family, the right choice depends on the children’s ages, sleeping arrangements and whether everyone wants to share one accommodation or have separate bedrooms.

What Is Included in an Overnight Island Stay?
At King Lewey’s, overnight guests receive complimentary round-trip boat transportation between Placencia and the island, along with access to the island’s guest amenities. Complimentary kayaks, paddleboards and snorkeling gear are available.
Meals and drinks depend on the package you book. Optional meal and all-inclusive packages are available, so request a quote that clearly lists your selected inclusions.
There are three separate parts to keep in mind when planning the trip:
Getting to Placencia: Your travel to the mainland departure point, including any domestic flight or ground transfer from Belize City.
Getting to the island: The complimentary round-trip Placencia boat transfer included for overnight guests.

An included island transfer does not mean every stage of your journey or every boat excursion is included.
What Can You Do Without Booking an Excursion?
An island stay allows you to leave space in your schedule. You can spend time on the overwater swings, take out a kayak or paddleboard, enjoy island games, or ride the 42-foot waterslide.
Guests can also snorkel directly around the island when conditions are suitable. Ask the team about current conditions and appropriate areas before entering the water. Visibility and marine-life sightings vary.
The open-air waterfront restaurant and Black Pearl Bar provide a place for meals, tropical drinks and time together between activities.
If you want a dedicated fishing trip, guided reef visit or diving adventure, discuss that separately with the resort. An excursion adds a different experience to the activities available around the island itself.
How Do You Get There From Placencia?
The boat journey from Placencia to King Lewey’s takes approximately 40 minutes, depending on conditions.
Before arranging flights or mainland transfers, coordinate your arrival time with the resort. If you are landing at Belize City International Airport, you still need to reach Placencia before boarding the island boat.
